Renowned for its expressive use of textiles, Rodarte creates unusual works through a highly elaborate and intensive processing and reconstruction of materials. Fabrics are often subjected to unusual, sometimes alchemical methods of alteration— dyed, stretched, stained, burned, or otherwise manipulated—before being reassembled as sculptural ready-to-wear. Materials are woven, knitted, or layered together as assemblages of plaid scraps, vinyl, cheesecloth, wool, cobweb, Swarovski crystals, macrame?, leather, and more. Rodarte’s designs are inspired by sources uncommonly approached in fashion design—its Spring 2010 collection was based, in part, on the California condor. Other idiosyncratic influences include local landscapes, Japanese horror films, Boris Karloff as Frankenstein, and the work of Gordon Matta Clark.

ASHI STUDIO - Latest Inspiration
One of the most talked about up-and-coming designers from the Middle East is Mohammed Ashi a young fashion designer from Saudi Arabia, based in Beirut, Lebanon Ashi has been making waves in the regional fashion world with aspirations and enough talent to crossover to the global fashion world of haute couture and prêt-à-porter. Ashi started, a series of collections that fallows no pattern in terms of time and they are more capsule collections with different themes and exclusive limited pieces. His last collection was a series of exotic and modern kaftans.
What I like most about Ashi's collections are the muted colours he uses to soften his looks and add a romantic edge to it, as well as the waterfall style cut of the dresses and skirts. I love the combination of black and white used for Eva Longoria's latest Grammy Awards look , which adds a classic touch to it and particularly the cut of the bottom of the dress. This designer is definately one to watch.

L.A. based brand Elkin have launched a new intimates as outerwear collection. Each season is inspired by a different literacy genre. The collection is a combination of soft, fresh, sexy, and intimate pieces along with a dark gothic edge, through the black dresses. For every piece that's sold, one children's book is donated through H.O.P.E., an organizination in Kenya that brings literature and art to children in need.
Fashion's not just about looking great its the giving back that makes it worthwhile :o)
